Friday Night Fight
“Come and Take It” said the inked skin of a man who just happened to be driving by our protest last night and felt compelled to stop and thank us. He wasn’t the only one. Amidst the supportive honking, thumbs up, and waves from cars passing by our merry band of rabble-rousers was out once again to spread the message of freedom in the on-going fight against tyranny.
For many of these folks their jobs are being threatened by immoral mandates. For others they are fighting for the futures of their grandchildren. But whatever passion is driving these people the underlying current is the same: no entity, whether public or private, has the right to violate my bodily autonomy.
Of course you will always have those few who wear the chains of government like a badge of honor. One woman sitting at a red light felt she needed to tell us that “we should all die.” Charming. These are the people that Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn warned us about.
But enough about the crazies. It’s the sane folks that I do meet that make it all the more worthwhile. The networking. As I walked around the protest I met new folks and passed out small flyers that I had printed and cut out to advertise my own upcoming protest on October 8th. Hearing things like “I’ve heard about this” to “Oh, I know someone who works there I’ll pass it along” are all the more encouraging. It’s what keeps pushing me forward in this fight. It’s the fire that lights my soul and fuels my rage. So just try to “Come And Take It.” I’m prepared and I’ll be waiting.
