Just Another Step
Last night I spent my evening in a crowded pub. Standing room only. People packed shoulder to shoulder. Not a single masked face in sight. One might think it was just another typical night out. But the energy in the room wasn’t just folks out for a good time. It was filled with people that have had enough. Enough of the lies. Enough of the ineptitude. Enough of the tyranny. It was filled with people willing to fight for freedom and liberty. It was filled with pissed off Texans.
So there I was amidst what I would call my people. I am one of those pissed off Texans clamoring for freedom and liberty. And it was for this reason that I found myself standing in this pub on a Monday night in McKinney, TX. Because you see my life is on the verge of being turned completely upside down because my employer has decided to mandate the jab.
Yes, my employer is now mandating that in order for me to stay employed I must submit myself to a medical procedure that I do not want and do not need. That I get the jab “or else”.
Or. Else.
Never have those two qualifying words been added onto the end of a statement without the threat of force, of violence being implied with them. And that is exactly what this is. A threat of physical violence towards my person to maintain my employment.
And before I even hear the commentary that I’m being “selfish” and that “everyone needs to do their part”. Spare me. No one has the right to treat me as a slave out of fear. I am choosing to live, you are choosing to hide. I am not the one making demands on the life of another, you are, so who is the truly selfish one? In fact, you are trying to ruin my life so that you can have yours.
So why this pub on this day? Chad Prather. Chad Prather, Texas gubernatorial candidate, was speaking at a True Texas Project event.
Now I don’t think my company expected much of a response from their employees with this threat being flowed down. They were wrong. If they expected me to just go quietly they clearly misjudged their adversary. If I am going to go out I am going to go out in a blaze of glory and let my voice be heard. And to let my voice be heard I have organized a protest.
But a protest without people is not much of a protest so the word must be spread. And that brings us back to Chad Prather.
Amidst chants of “Fuck Joe Biden” and “We Are Texas” an audience was kept at rapt attention as the ideas of freedom, liberty, and independence were espoused. It was after this rousing speech was concluded that I was given 30 seconds to pitch my protest to this crowded pub. And I got a response! I handed out flyers, found fellow co-workers, and those who agreed it was simply wrong.
And so another step was taken last night. Another step in the fight to protect myself. Another step in the fight to stand up and be a voice for others who are too afraid to speak up. Another step in the fight against the tyranny that threatens us all.
